The Liturgy, or the Mass, is the summit of the Catholic experience, where we are nourished and strengthened by the Eucharist, as well as the Word of God, and then sent forth to further the kingdom of God here on earth as missionary disciples. Divine Mercy is committed to hosting liturgies that welcome, inspire, and challenge all who come together to praise and worship our Lord for Mass. The liturgy should make a difference in us, and in turn, the world.
The Church needs you. The Church needs everyone. The Church needs the old and the young, the dreamers and those worn down by life, people with challenges and struggles, people looking for answers, people questioning and seeking, and people fired up to go out and change the world because of the Gospel message. The Church needs everyone, and our liturgies depend on your spirit, participation and service. We would be delighted—honored, even—if you would share your gifts with Divine Mercy as a liturgical minister. Please contact the Parish Office to learn more about serving in any of ministries listed on this page. Liturgical & Worship Ministries
Hospitality Ministers: Greeters & Ushers
Hospitality Ministers embody the vision of Divine Mercy to foster a welcoming community that inspires disciples of Jesus to share God’s love and transform the world. These volunteers greet the gathering assembly, assist with seating, take up the collection, distribute worship aids and bulletins, and straighten up the church for the next celebration. AND you can sign up to be one of our welcoming greeters by clicking on one of the buttons to your left. (You may need to scroll down.) Eucharistic Ministers (Extraordinary Ministers of Communion)
Eucharistic Ministers assist the priest in distributing Holy Communion to the assembly. This ministry is open to all Catholics who have been fully initiated with the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. Lectors
Lectors bring God’s Word to life at Mass, as they proclaim the Scriptures and lead the Prayers of the Faithful. They devote time to preparing and reflecting on the readings in advance, so they may be proclaimed with familiarity, reverence and love. Sacristans
Sacristans prepare the church for celebration of Mass, oversee the care of liturgical vessels and vestments, and assist the presiding clergy in the sacristy. Altar Servers
Altar Servers are fourth-graders (and above) who assist at all of the Divine Mercy liturgies. They perform tasks such as lighting candles, preparing the altar, and holding the presider’s ritual book. The signup for altar servers is here: Divine Mercy Parish: Altar Server Ministry 2023-24 (signupgenius.com) For information about becoming an altar server, please contact School - Sheelagh Spooner: [email protected] Parish - Patty Sanfilippo [email protected] or Liz McGowen [email protected] |
